Imagine the top app for steam deck being a universal emulator that can emulate any other handheld.

Heck, imagine that getting integrated into Proton…

Hate to break it but the emulator also uses AI and the Switch 2 got hacked in the first place using AI. At this point you’ll be hard pressed to find anything in the scene not using it because, opinions on AI aside, it is seriously effective in reverse engineering.

And that makes me feel sad about it. Remember TheFlow quitting the reverse engineering entirely because of those slop kiddies? I’m worried about reverse engineering field getting outnumbered by those fly-by-night LLM users replacing the existing enthusiasts. I really hope that won’t happen but really we need to fight against those LLM users to keep it rolling and maintained by someone care about their project.

reverse engineered code is just automatically slop, eh?

compare that to will smith eating spaghetti, or all the garbage ads that companies are putting out using AI.

Generalizing anything that AI touches as slop, is kind of . . . . disingenuous, no?

Damaging to the environment and our futures maybe, but as a coding tool AI is getting much better and more reliable

I don’t understand what the problem is. Without AI this process would’ve taken certainly much longer (longer than necessary).

You cannot escape AI, no matter how much you are against it. It is here and it will stay whether we like it or not.

If you don’t like it, don’t use it.

I for one am happy this is possible and has a very quick development.

Climate change is also already here, should we stop giving a fuck about it and deregulate fossil fuels? “You cannot escape AI” is such a common thought-terminating cliche it gives me a migraine.

My point is; whether we want it or not, it will not suddenly disappear. It exists and it will always exists.

But anyway, keep being upset about everything related to AI. That will do good for your health, I suppose.

I would get upset if someone was smoking in the same room as me, for the same reason. Smoking will not suddenly disappear. That’s no reason to accept it as something good.

Fair point. Though, I wouldn’t mind that either despite not being a smoker. We are just different and have different opinions and that’s okay.

Anyway, lets see where this Switch 2 emulation is going (or not). I’m curious what is going to happen, will Nintendo go madman again?

In this specific case, part of me actually wants the emulation (or at least the games decompilation) to be done with corporate AI, so that Nintendo can go nuclear on whatever company was its provider.

So true. “You cannot escape AI” is simply not true as there are many FOSS projects explicitly banning usage of LLMs. By thinking this way you just give up to even trying fighting against it. This is such a defeatist logic and harmful to FOSS ecosystem in general.

I mean, maybe they’re trying not to bring too much attention and get Nintendo’s lawyers to harass even more people.

Don’t worry, if they host the website publicly that must imply they have good opsec and WANT people to notice it
