Tbh makes sense and this is a pretty massive sign of what’s to come. Most people simply don’t want to use VR headsets and with meta soon to leave the VR space I expect it to quickly become a technology relegated to hyper-nerds within the next five years (granted the grand majority of meta quest owners never actually use it).

I don’t mind using VR, but there is a larger barrier to use it versus just sitting in my chair and using my computer normally.

It’s funny that I totally agree with you, but I just realized that in a few minutes I’m putting on my full body tracking thigh highs, arm warmers, and sports bra so I can hang out and play games with my friends as a tiny dragon lol.

it will never not be funny to me that Valve released VR’s killer app, and the killer app killed VR.

Nobody else has the time or budget to make something like Alyx, and strapping a monitor to your face is obnoxious in ideal situations, let alone to for a library broadly of $40 tech demos that last 15min.

Hey, it’s ok here to admit that you had a shitty experience that one time with VR. We’re not that other place. No need to inflate the whinge to full-blown hyperbole when grasping for validity, friend. Breathe. 😋

Alright alright. Twenty dollar tech demos that last 45min. Please don’t sue me for using rhetoric to emphasize a point.

There are plenty of full/long games now, and there are tools to effectively play a lot of pancake games in vr with full stereoscopic vision. GTAV in VR is hilarious.

It’s not the lack of games preventing VR adoption, it’s price, bulky tech, and inconsistent experience.

Bold of you to say that on lemmy with all the nerds, def a hot take here. Of course if you ask any group of normal people they would all agree VR is an absolute waste of money with no value whatsoever. Watch as when the new Steam Frame releases it’ll be around $1,500 and you’ll hear nothing but positive things here.

It supports teleportation movement (where you point at a place and you’re transported there instantly), which is way better on the 'ol inner ear.

Yeah it’s not going to be cheap, but I don’t really care? A cheap one would suck.

It’s not for everybody. Specifically I never recommend it.
