Need to pressure TV manufacturers to adopt it
The HDMI forum is made up of those TV manufacturers, so I doubt they’d help push an open standard that’d earn them less.
They have been in recent years in the form of USB-C Alt Mode.
I didn’t realize alt mode used DP (but I guess that makes sense) - good to know, will definitely look for that in my next TV
