The gameplay is much more polished in the sequel, you can tell both that it’s significantly newer and also that Remedy has learned and improved. I think the survival horror and shooting gameplay in AW2 is quite smooth and enjoyable.
It is certainly very demanding on your PC though, but also one of the best looking games out there.

I love what Remedy are cooking (at least on their single player games). I feel like we all knew Firebreak was going to be bad and collectively just wished Remedy focused on Control 2 and Alan Wake 3 instead.

It’s crazy that this mod is kind of the foundation of the entire modern Battlefield landscape seeing as its devs got hired by DICE for Battlefield 2.

Some people say it’s one of the best games of all time and some that it’s overrated and meh.

I haven’t played them but I from what I hear the Batman Arkham games and Insomniac Spider-Man games also count as worthwhile and well-made AAA games.

For budget cards especially the modern reality is that upscaling will likely be a necessary evil, so looking at upscaling performance is looking at actual performance. But even beyond that, the video includes performance comparisons between native and the various upscaling modes to show what you can expect and whether those gains from DLSS/FSR are worth it.
Coelacanth@feddit.nuto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•John Romero says indies are the future of game development: 'These people are the ones that make triple-A studios go, 'Wait a minute, we need to start doing this''English5·1 month agoIndie is kind of a fraught term in whatever genre it’s used I feel like. It has too many connotations and too few clear definitions. How much big label backed mass produced “indie rock/pop” did we not get back in the early 00s music scene, for example. Same with gaming: see the whole Dave the Diver being nominated for best Indie Game despite being backed by NEXON debacle.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is tricky because while Hasbro was involved it was still self-published by Larian. It doesn’t feel right to me to call it an indie game, but… how exactly should we define them then? Is there a budget cutoff where a game is no longer allowed to be called an indie? If Sandfall uses their huge budget from the success of Expedition 33 to make a blockbuster sequel but stayed with Kepler as publisher would we refuse to call it an indie game?

Enjoy smoother gameplay with refined camera controls, polished mechanics, enhanced textures, and full controller support with a newly designed controller-specific UI.
I wonder what specifically was changed for “smoother gameplay” and “polished mechanics”. I definitely do want to play this eventually - for the first expansion if nothing else - but I bought too many games on the summer sales as is. And I am just about to add Limbo and Inside to the list before they get delisted.

It’s a shame it will have no impact and the copyright mafia will continue their relentless assault until we are all microchipped at birth with neural inhibitors that physically prevents us from consuming digital material we haven’t purchased.
