I agree. On a new machine I’ve been using I tried Ubuntu and then Zorin, but Bazzite just works better. Could be the Fedora base that’s helping a lot, idk. But switching that machine over when I’m not lazy.

2·1 month agoJust look at the processors in the Synology offerings, you didn’t need much to run a bunch of services.
I have been playing with Incus recently.
You can run Windows in vms on Linux if you don’t need screaming performance. I think you can directly install from iso with Incus as well. I haven’t find this yet, i used Qemu instead.
You could spin up a vm with mx and see how it works.

2·2 months agoI’m running an older Asus router they is listed on the OpenWrt site. Would it be the most affordable option to just install open wrt on this device and manually bring over my current configs?

2·5 months agoI also want to look into the exit node stuff.
I have bazzite, it also includes graphics drivers ready to go which is nice. If you’re going to use steam for gaming i find it great. But this distro is not needed for gaming, one can install and game on any of the popular distros. You’re friend needs to try a few and see what feel best for them.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Finally switched my fiancee to bazzite, fuck me was it a trial
2·8 months agoYeah, i have an example of this. I spent since time today building a local copy of handbrake have it run in a distrobox of arch to get AMD hardware acceleration as an option. The flatpak version refused to do this. It wasn’t too bad, but still wild i did this.
