A new and visually improved version of RuneScape has been scrapped shortly after its reveal, following fears it would split the playerbase.

People play RuneScape because it’s old school. Don’t try to fix what’s not broken.

However it’s also worth noting Jagex did do this for a reason. The in-game economy of RuneScape has been hyper-inflated for a while now, making the process of creating a new character and progressing through to the endgame a daunting progress due to gargantuan prices. For example, a Bond (exchangeable for a month of premium membership) sells for 11.2m coins on Old School RuneScape. On regular RuneScape, a bond sells for 141.3m coins.

Idk, sounds at least a little broken to me.

Yeah but they did nothing to change the standard rates of gold flowing into and out of the game. A “fresh start” might help as a brief one-off, but it’s not fixing the root of the problem in the slightest.

If everything is priced in millions of coins, redenominate and adjust the currency lifecycle. For example, if every time you kill a goblin you get one coin, that’s free money created out of nothing. You need to have somewhere the player is spending and destroying that money.
