I imagine the Anti Cheat they added to GTAV Online will be in GTAVI Online so I cant play. And even if they ship without the Anti Cheat, I imagine they will add it and block my ability to play. And with that insane price tag. Not worth the risk at all.
I tried it on Linux the other day. Every time I spawned into the world I was immediately killed (by the same account) after glitching weirdly. I assume it’s an exploit.
When I spawned myself into an “Invite Only” instance, since I was just wanting to play alone anyway, I was able to spawn but was then kicked out by Battleye after about 45 seconds.
Wasnt so bad for me. Got lots of free money. The odd lobby would be fucked. But you could just switch to a new instance, or a private one if you were trying to do something. Not sure what its like now.
Yeah P2P was a bad call. And Im sure they will make it again.
Isn’t the anti-cheat only used on multiplayer? Singleplayer would be fine and honestly, after experiencing the hackers in GTA V’s online mode, I’m really not interested in the same thing in the sequel.
There was another recent post going around Lemmy that GTA VI was a “single-player experience” (a Rockstar quote), with some other speculation that GTA:O, if/when it is revamped, will be a standalone product.

GTAO without some sort of protection was a total cesspool imo. And I’m not saying it’s magically perfect now.
I wish there were better options.
Linux-compatible anticheat does exist. If Rockstar wants to let Steam Deck players join GTAO, I don’t see what’s stopping them.

What a cluster.

Yeah, P2P was the biggest issue.
It’s the most profitable game in the world. Ever. Just the online part. They should be able to afford dedicated servers.

Yes it is. Thats why I specifically said GTA Online was talking about it.
GTAV Online wasnt so bad. I got alot of free money from them. And the odd lobby being fucked was a minor detail.
