The distro is (reportedly - I’m not touching it) just arch + hyprland + dotfiles scripts, the main dev is the same dev behind hyprland (who’s right-leaning to say the least), and the money comes from right-leaning-to-say-the-least entrepreneurs.

    errata: read the reply below

Part of those 8 million do go into paying “the Hyprland guy” (Vaxry)'s salary, and he himself hasn’t been very politically correct. DHH also is quite open about choosing “anti-woke” projects (i.e. without a CoC).

Well gawd damn it… it looked cool until I heard this. I’ll steer clear of it until there is a non-fascist backed option. Thanks for the heads up.

I’m not a user or a fan of omarchy, but I think that description is a little reductive. Omarchy has its own fast cloudflare mirrors for packages and its own package management. Personally I think that’s not a good thing (just use pacman/aur/flatpak), but it’s worth pointing out that there’s more to this distro than the dotfiles, and while it was cosplaying as a distro before, with the release of quattro its getting closer to being an actual distro now.

Crazy to think they just got 8 million dollars. Compared to half a million for flatpak!!! Totally backwards.
