Looks like the gaming industry, under the consolidation of ‘big tech’ or spreadsheet crunchers, have been treating all staff as ‘temporary employees’. Once the project or role is done, they cut you off.

What a great way to run an industry! /s

I can’t say I understand the expectations of the head of these gaming studios nowadays. I mean, I know they are toxic as hell, but even then… The game has just released to justify layoffs. If anything, they should’ve vetted the project from the very beginning (at least I don’t see the point of a new remaster of Halo CE, specially after a suppose rebranding).

The game was released. They don’t need them anymore to see profits.

No one sees beyond the next quarter. Im sure they think they can just hire on demand if the project needs it.

I don’t see the point of a new remaster of Halo CE

The remake is pretty good, actually. Fixes several frustrating things with the level design and adds mechanics like sprinting, aiming on guns without scopes, and stealing occupied vehicles, which the 2011 remaster did not do (even in 2011, 2001 level design was painful).

I never played these games series, but I watched a review last week, and they mentioned a change regarding some lady, that wasn’t in the original and she is really abusive of Mr chief, the ‘girl boss’ thing - which feels like the other game dragon… veilguard or similar.

I get confused, why are these triple a companies remaking classics but then have this kind of change in the game? Who played the original and was like ’ oh hell maw, Mr chief need some verbal abuse, for the people’. 😑

I’m not sure what that’s referring to, but I haven’t finished it yet. My buddy and I (who have played all the Halo games together over the years) are working our way through on Legendary difficulty, and we’re very much out of practice so it’s taking a long time.

There’s some new prologue missions we haven’t played yet, maybe she’s in that? That said, female military characters have been in every single Halo game, so if it is just that they add a new character in the prologue missions I feel like anyone criticizing the game for making her female is…grasping at straws to fuel a culture war that isn’t real. But that’s nothing new for the gamer crowd, is it? 🤣
