I use either debian with plasma, or mint with cinnamon. Why? Because it fucking works out of the box and I can use my computer. I rarely customize my DE. I usually end up customizing my terminal more.

4·6 months agoThe thing is without this, if you somehow exit steam, you are toast and need to plug a keyboard or access via ssh. Having a DE with controller support like this would indeed rock, as I stop depending on steam for launching things.

91·8 months agoFor me it was self hosting, aka not having a choice but to learn. I’ll be dead before using remote desktop for that.
Also, self hosting gives you real motivation, because you actually need to do things, carry tasks, not just learning for the sake of it. Your efforts get immediately rewarded with functioning things.

0·10 months agoStarted daily driving Linux last year and the ecosystem has significantly improved for the end user in the last years. And I’m using debian as an animal, with Mint stuff is even simpler, not to mention StramOS. Shit is finally good, no joke.
