It’s got like a “lite” version. You have to use the terminal to check if it’s enabled but that’s that Microsoft started doing in win10 home. I assume some asshat in marketing got the agreement they could keep their branding even if Microsoft gave out encryption for free.
Personally I found it made more sense to just bring an old pro license so I could be sure it was enabled.

Modern windows machines will be installed with bitlocker (full disk encryption). With manual installs it might not be.

If you disagree with any of the claims that’s fine, but I think the facts are fairly rock solid. It’s a word whose definition can’t include windows. It’s a word people parrot endlessly in the last year or so since Doctorow got popular, without actually understanding it. If you want to prove me wrong, go for it.

Kde is solid and requires zero fuckery in my experience to work well. This is in fedora, suse, arch (endeavour), void.

it does take time, as an early google adopter it took until the early 2010s before I’d had enough of their trash and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I’d fully decoupled from Google, but it’s not like I worked on it for a decade. I worked on it for a few hours, a day or two per year, for a decade. Most of the switching effort is time. (Ok here’s how you reach me now.
