yeehaw@lemmy.cato Linux@lemmy.ml•What problems does Linux have to overcome to get more users1·9 days agoWhat? It already doesn’t have most of the gamers.
Normies can use it easier than gamers. Linux on the right hardware is stable as fuck and Linux has always been good at running a web browser, which is like 99% of what normies do on computers these days.
Libgen. Not torrents but books are all over.
Also audiobooksbay, you don’t actually need an account for these torrents if you take the hash from the site

If it’s just that compose I’ll probably implement this tomorrow.

Too much of a hassle for me, unless I dump the instance on my wifi network but if I set this up I’d like the option to use it for my other vlans too.

yeehaw@lemmy.caOPto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What is the best way to sync images to my NAS?English1·1 month agoI played more and got it working a bit better. Where it becomes a management nightmare is how it’s designed. Too much of a hassle to sync between a server and DHCP clients over different vlans.

And my god, it’s amazing how each UI iteration gets worse. How is that even possible? My shits never been so buried in menus.
Jellyfin still so buggy though. The UI is garbage too. I want to love it… I run both lol.
Don’t bother with a hot spare. For household needs you’re just spending money to have a drive that will always be on. If you set up your notifications and your array right, you can have plenty of time to order a replacement.
I went RAIDZ2 both times (dual disk redundancy, any two can die and its all good). Had a few spewing warnings over the years, and just replaced them.
Anywho, my data array is about 10 years old but earlier this year I relocated to bigger disks and less disks. ZFS is worth it.
True, the answer to that is more hardware unfortunately. I guess there are Linux options, I forget what they are though.
