+1 for Ubiquiti, but I’d suggest one of the cheaper models with built in WiFi unless you plan on having an intricate network.

Instead you’ll spend your time littering your own computer with bloatware!
Bazzite is Fedora and you can get it in KDE Plasma or Gnome flavors.
You can use Fusion 360 in Linux with Wine. But instead of even trying that, I used my switch to Linux as the catalyst to switch to FreeCAD. Using FOSS just feels so much nicer.
I fully expect within 10 years individuals will be able to use AI to build decent to good quality games in relatively little time.
You vastly overestimate the ability of AI, vastly underestimate the complexity of making games, of both.
Steam OS is not, and will not be a good desktop OS. At least in the foreseeable future. If you want that kind of experience now, install Bazzite.
Try Bazzite. Easy, beginner friendly, but very God hardware support and up to date.
And then to stick it to the man further you’re running Linux of course, right?
Guess I’m just never playing it, then.
So many thousands of amazing games I can play instead.
I just skimmed your post and it didn’t sound familiar. I’m out of the house right now, but I checked Steam on my phone, and I’ve definitely played it.
I own both Shadowgrounds and Caster.
Caster is a short, janky, lovable mess. It has real “this is my passion project and first ever video game” vibes.
Shadowgrounds was forgettable, but I vaguely remember enjoying it.
I chose the middle option for things I’m not hosting, but could see myself hosting in the future.
The worst part about quadlets, IMO, is that they don’t use the same key words as podman run does. So turning a working podman container into a quadlet can be challenging.
I’m in a similar boat. The difference for me is that I can definitely tell times where I’m faster. But there are still times where I fumble around. I know that eventually, I’ll be way faster using vim motions than I ever was without them.
When I first started actually trying to use it to do work, it felt pretty bad. But once I got over the hump it felt better.
I think I’m at the point where I’m at least as fast as I used to be, if not slightly faster.
Point is don’t buy Nvidia.
There are other options at that price point that aren’t Nvidia.
There aren’t other comparable options to say the 5090, which no one needs.
That was my point. I was speaking generally, not about the 5060.
Stop buying Nvidia products. You don’t need the top of the line video card.
The ease of switching really just depends. Myself, I’ve had several stumbles switching, but I’m still so happy I did and I’m not going back. My wife on the other hand, has had no issues switching from her Chromebook, because she’s a super basic user who spends all her time in the browser.
Check out Tailscale. It uses Wireguard under the hood, but it’s magic.
I got to update my WSL on my work machine to Debian 13. Very exciting.
