I’ve heard of one of these, and IBM has history, brand recognition and rolls off the tongue better.
The “TeX” part is intended to be Greek though, and TeX predates LaTeX.

82·4 months agoThat’s disingenuous. They do a lot more than that.
Discovery for one. Hosting the game so that downloads are fast and paying for the server and network infrastructure for that. Handling payment processing from all around the world.
That all has a cost. And any developer can just drop the installer on their own website and pay all of these things themselves.

4·7 months agoA lot of indie companies would not exists if there wasn’t a storefront like Steam that handles worldwide transactions, distributes the game and increases their discoverability.
There are other options, such as itch.io.
If you think Valve’s cut should be lower, you’re free to make your own marketplace and compete.

8·7 months agoValve employees aren’t pissing in bottles. Amazon also does a bunch of shitty things on their marketplace (Amazon basics) and killed all the competition.
There’s a huge difference in ethics here.
