2·2 months agosymfonium kinda does this from android. it’ll grab onto your UPNP player and won’t let go until you tell symfonium to release it.
But as far as taking your playlist in from the car to the house, it’ll do it

no sweat!
most of the library looks like this on anything that isn’t the native Jellyfin app on android.
I’ve struggled with it a few times before giving up.
still keep that jellyfin server running these days, on the same vm/container and library just in case.

7·2 months agoall the jellyfin music clients have weird glitches with band names and metadata. this has been with almost every (android) jellyfin client on 3 different Jellyfin servers over the years
i was almost completely sold on Jellyfin being my music server but it wasn’t quite ready for me, or possibly there is something about my library it doesn’t like.

1·2 months agothe GUI makes it pretty painless. it was my first real attempt at self hosting anything, my first experience with any kind of NFS/SMB setup at all. i was running it as bare metal for around 2 years before using installing as a vm on proxmox.

3·2 months agotruenas is cool. I’ve only used core so far, but i hear scale is taking over
gosh!
how does this work for you? i was on gonic but moved back to navidrome to allow for mopidy to let home assistant trigger playlists directly (with the mpd integration)
but i haven’t figured out the smart playlists yet
muahaha… daw
my library is already tough to sift through.
20,000 mainly flacs and it’s still less than 500gb

get some DLNA or other OSS way to sling it to my house audio player (mopidy or snapcast) and I’d finally have to stop worrying about symfonium licensing hassles.
i don’t mind contributing, but what if i never connect that device to WAN?
