Invest in whatever you want. We don’t really to read about people publicly trying to justify what stocks they want buy on a pcgaming sub. Its already turned into a weird tangent of one guy spouting off corporate talking points.

They don’t exist in a vacuum but taking a weird investor approach about how nvidia is far ahead because they chose to invest in AI is not really in line with the comment they responded to saying they picked it up because of Linux support.

This is pcgaming not investing. The aspects you are talking about don’t matter to pc gamers who are only trying to get whatever parts they can for a bargain as opposed to concerns about return on investment.

Because people see that this isn’t about protecting kids, but about wanting to start requiring IDs for every aspect of the Internet that didn’t used to have it. So it doesn’t just stop at Roblox but getting to the point where even signing up on Lemmy might have ID requirements depending on the country.

The answer is better parental controls to lock down accounts and even get alerts and logs of what their kids are doing rather than this attempt to get IDs. Provide better easy to use parental tools. Not to mention, these verification companies have had links to places like Palantir.

The for the children argument is one to be skeptical of when it goes hand in hand with less privacy. I’d expect more awareness of this from people on lemmy than those on reddit.

Nice. Lot of games I’ve played on RPCS3 have run flawless as long as the wiki shows playable.

Publishers also opted out of Epic’s $10 off sale despite Epic eating the costs, since they didn’t want to devalue the price they could charge for future sales.

Publishers don’t want to sell games cheaper. They want to price it higher. They only lower if less people are buying the game at a higher price and are forced to lower it. I don’t understand why some can’t see publishers are not altruistic and some how exempt from maximizing profits like other industries.

Ones that remained exclusive on their own launcher for a long time yet didn’t deviate from pricing the retail price of their games any lower despite paying 0% cut like EA and Ubisoft in the past is proof enough.

It’s as naive as when Microsoft tried to push an always online digital console and some believing it’d lead to lower game prices due to not having to account for physical costs of discs as though companies want to price games lower instead of higher.

Joining in on subscription based monetization is being Cyberpunk? I think that applies more to the anonymous person who released Link’s Awakening DX HD.

Yeah, there’s enough enshitification already in the world with all sorts of monetization trying to turn everything into subscriptions.

If someone wants subscription revenue that much they should release their own game rather than turn mods into yet another subscription hell hole.

Itch has way less money yet supports Linux.

I moved to the endgame mouse. Specifically the op1we last year, since it has optical switches that can easily be swapped out if problems arise. And there’s custom pcbs to be able to use regular micro switches. No need to solder anything.

And the mouse can be easily opened up without ruining the mouse glides, since they didn’t put the screw’s underneath there like lot of mice do.

And for keyboards I moved to custom keyboards long time ago that have QMK support so I can use VIA or VIAL to set my keyboard and not use the manufacturer programs.

It wouldn’t have been just a Steam monopoly. It would have been PC gaming gated behind Microsoft, and with Microsoft having zero incentive and total control with it being heavily integrated into their OS with no need for openness. A consolified PC gaming space would be what they would have loved. Not just to make piracy more difficult, but to get the trust of publishers who had all gone towards consoles because of the perceived benefits of a closed ecosystem.

If Microsoft had been smarter they would have leveraged their OS monopoly to position themselves to become the game launcher monopoly on the most used OS in the world, and been the go to place for every publisher. Would have made it easier to push UWP and added in additional DRM to make it more difficult to make Linux gaming a possibility with the game launcher being one run by Microsoft and made it more baked in to be reliant on the OS like Microsoft Store.

And even if game compatibility was worked out for Linux made it so people would need a Microsoft account if they wanted to play most PC games. That’s what Microsoft lost out on letting a non Microsoft company gain success with a third party launcher that is now leveraging their success to push a non Microsoft OS to the mainstream.

And about anti competition. All you’ve said is something about cuts and I pointed out that it would actually hurt competition, so you want them to make cuts so other launchers lose one of their selling points while making those that need a higher cut like GOG harder to stay alive as a business? I think you should get mad at other corporations for not also getting into the PC gaming market sooner.

You can complain about them making a lot of money, but other than that you haven’t really been clear beyond the generic they make a lot of money and are a monopoly euphemisms.
