Every once in a while I think I’ll drop my mix of all those GTK/Gnome-based apps plus some Qt apps, and switch to a full KDE desktop. More coherent. Uniform look etc.

I just tried Q4OS yesterday but it runs under Xorg. Isn’t wayland the default for KDE these days? Which distro should I live-check?

Another thing, I noticed that something called ksyslogger iirc consistently eats CPU. A daemon that keeps up with everything that’s happening. Is it possible to disable this without breaking KDE, or otherwise make it as lightweight as, say, a simple Openbox desktop?

Using Falkon under a Plasma desktop was a great experience though.

BTW, does KDE have a good equivalent for all the usually important apps, e.g. a full-fledged mail client?

      Which distro should I live-check?

Fedora KDE, CachyOS, Debian. One of those, depending on your needs.

You can rice KDE Plasma easily. Check why ksyslogger uses so many resources, it’s not normal. You can get a full Plasma desktop with under 400MB of RAM usage and under 0.5% CPU.

I use Thunderbird as mail client, as Kmail doesn’t really cut it for me.
